This artwork began with a collection of stamps owned by my grandmother. It led me to look at the history of why there were so many stamps from specific places in east Africa and Europe and the migration of my community to these places.
The stamps can be moved, and this symbolizes not only the literal movement of the stamp with letters, but also of people and their stories. The illustrations reflect the reasons for migration. By activating this work, people can explore this history for themselves.
